Above is one of my favourite buildings belonging to the 53^rd assembly chautauqua known as Glen Echo.

Established in the late 1800s, it is one of the few remaining chautauquas in the United States.

Robert M. Pirsig, author of Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, devotes a good portion of his book to a short history of chautauquas.

Last time I’m typing ‘chautauqua.’ Really.
